Mochi (rice cake) pounding event: A Japanese new years tradition

Would you like to do “Mochitsuki” (Mochi Pounding), a Japanese traditional big event for celebrating the new year. We pound steamed glutinous rice (mochigome) in a large mortar (Usu) with a mallet (Kine) to make mochi sometime around the new year. Fresh Mochi is so delicious and precious!
